The warden is very lucky to have been in charge at camp green lake for so long because as Sophie said the warden scratches those who defy her and has threatened multiple characters. I don't know why none of the campers who were released have told someone about the wardens tyranny
Also she is lucky that no one from the government that has come to inspect the camp has found out about what she has been doing to the staff and campers
